Using Technology to Empower Teachers for Inclusive Learning in Burkina Faso: A Pilot Program

Significant progress has been made in fostering innovation and advancing educational accessibility, as evidenced by the development of Marrakesh Treaty Implementation Guidelines, advocacy materials, and multilingual learning resources. These achievements have enriched the global repository of educational materials.

During discussions, participants unanimously agreed that training on accessible content production should be extended to all teachers. Anecdotal evidence suggests that these efforts have had a positive impact on visually impaired students, as they now have real-time access to the same textbooks as their sighted peers. This underscores the importance of providing equal educational opportunities for all students.

In Burkina Faso, teachers with disabilities are not only gaining essential digital skills but also playing a key role in creating a more inclusive educational environment. This aligns with the principles of the Recommendation on OER, which emphasizes equitable access to quality educational materials for all learners.
