Post Journalists Recognized by Associated Press Sports Editors

The Washington Post had a successful showing at the annual Associated Press Sports Editors contest, with two first-place awards and a total of 13 finalists in various categories. This marked the most finalists among all publications in the A division. The Post’s sports staff stood out in writing, photography, section, digital, and photography categories.

Dave Sheinin received top honors in the short feature category for his story on Brooks Robinson and his connection to the city of Baltimore after his passing. Sally Jenkins and Kent Babb secured second and third place in the long features division for their pieces on Evert and Navratilova, respectively. Candace Buckner placed third in column writing, Adam Kilgore in national beat writing, and John McDonnell in action photography.

The Post’s digital team was recognized with top 10 rankings for their work in digital, print portfolio, and special section. These awards recognize their hard work and dedication to producing high-quality sports journalism.
