Sol 2075: Let’s SAMple the Party!

On Sol 2075, our primary focus will be on conducting a methane experiment using our SAM instrument to analyze an atmospheric sample. However, we have also allocated 45 minutes of extra time for additional science activities. This extra time has been divided between our Environmental (ENV) and Geologic (GEO) theme groups.

The ENV group will be concentrating on various atmospheric monitoring tasks to evaluate dust opacity using Navcam and Mastcam. This includes capturing line-of-sight images and measuring tau. Additionally, ENV will be searching for dust devils by taking a series of images with Navcam and monitoring the deck with Mastcam.

In contrast, the GEO group has planned a ChemCam LIBS observation on the nodular target known as “Little Marais.” This target was previously analyzed on Sol 2074, and this additional observation will help us gain a better understanding of its chemistry. ChemCam will also be taking an RMI image of the Duluth drill hole, which will aid in our planning for future drill hole targeting activities over the weekend.
