National Political Science Honor Society Inducts Five New Members

On April 15, 2024, the Alpha Zeta Nu Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, a national political science honor society, held an induction ceremony at the University of Louisiana Monroe. During the event, five new members were inducted: Elenora Franco, Haleigh Lewellyan, Jessica DeFreese, Mallory LaBoeuf and Melanna Morris. The keynote address was given by David Orr, the City Manager of Texarkana, Texas who was accompanied by Chiquita Burks, the current City Management Fellow.

Pi Sigma Alpha is dedicated to promoting the scientific and practical study of government problems while encouraging reforms in governmental machinery. The society aims to educate the electorate on government issues and stimulate scholarship and intellectual interest in political science. To become a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, students must meet specific academic criteria such as having an overall GPA within the top one-third of their graduating class and a GPA of 3.5 or better in Political Science courses as well as completing more than twelve hours of political science courses.

Established in 1919 at the University of Texas, Pi Sigma Alpha has grown into a worldwide organization with over 700 chapters and inducting over 800 new members annually. The society brings together students and faculty interested in the study of government and politics and is committed to upholding its mission to foster reforms in governmental machinery while educating the electorate on important political issues.
