Marcus Pettersson, defensemen for the Penguins, to represent Sweden in the IIHF World Championship

Swedish defenseman Marcus Pettersson has been chosen to participate in the upcoming IIHF World Championship tournament. The announcement was made by the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation on Tuesday. The event will take place in Czechia from May 10-26.

Pettersson, who is 27 years old, has played for Sweden in international competitions before, including the IIHF World Championship tournaments in 2019 and 2022. This season, he set career highs in goals, assists, points and average ice time per game while playing all 82 games for the Penguins.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Andre Burakovsky was also selected to represent Sweden in the tournament. Karlsson, Pettersson’s defensive partner this season was also named to Sweden’s roster for the tournament. Keep track of the Penguins throughout the season by following their progress.
