Erie County Health Department Awarded $4.3M Grant for Health Services and Programs Enhancement

The Erie County Community Health Center, the only comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Center in the tri-county area of Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties, has received $4,334,730 in funding from the Health Resources and Services Agency (HRSA). This funding will support primary care, dental, and mental health services offered at the Health Center’s eight sites throughout the region.

As a crucial component of public health infrastructure, Federally Qualified Health Centers play an important role in ensuring continued access to high-quality primary health care services for underserved communities. The Erie County Health Department/Erie County Community Health Center is among 160 programs nationwide that have received funding through the Service Area Competition.

According to Erie County Health Commissioner Pete Schade, this three-year funding period from June 2024 to May 2027 will help improve the health and well-being of residents in Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties.

The HRSA’s Health Center Program supports nonprofit organizations that provide primary health care services to medically underserved populations. For more information about the Erie County Health Department or Health Center services, visit www.ErieCoHealthOhio.com.
