15 Privateer Bikes Competing in Fort William World Cup 2024

During our tour of the Fort William World Cup pits, we had the opportunity to see the newest bikes and technology used by the top downhill mountain bikers in the world. Riders like Greg Minnaar, Tahnee Seagrave, Nina Hoffmann, and other factory team members are well-equipped for success with a dedicated mechanic, team manager, chef, sports massage therapist on hand for support. Many of these riders also have spare bikes available in case of emergencies.

On the other hand, there are around 80 privateers who take on multiple roles in addition to riding down Aonach Mòr at top speeds. They may not have the latest technology, but their bikes have likely seen more descending than any factory team rider’s bike. Despite not having all the high-tech gear, these privateers work hard to compete at their best in the competition.

In Fort William, these privateers stand out with their dedication to their craft and passion for the sport. Each one has a story to tell about their favorite thing about their bike, showcasing the resilience and spirit that drives them to take on the challenges of competitive downhill mountain biking. Their love for this sport is evident through their willingness to put in extra effort and sacrifice everything else for it. It is inspiring to see how they keep pushing themselves to be better every day and never give up on their dreams.
