David Flaspohler appointed Dean of Michigan Tech’s College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science

As the final patches of snow begin to melt, Michigan Technological University is preparing for a new season with the appointment of David Flaspohler as the Dean of the College of Forest Resources and Environmental Sciences. Flaspohler, who has been serving as the interim Dean since 2022, was selected after a national search and brings a sense of leadership and experience to the institution.

Flaspohler has been a part of the university since 1998 and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Wildlife Ecology and a Master of Science in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Wisconsin. His background in wildlife ecology and conservation biology will undoubtedly be an asset as the college continues its commitment to environmental research and education.

The Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Andrew Storer, expressed his gratitude to the search committee for identifying Flaspohler’s qualities that will benefit the college. “David’s dedication to teaching and his expertise in environmental science make him an excellent fit for this role,” said Storer. “We are confident that he will continue to lead the college with excellence.”

Flaspohler’s years of teaching at the university show his dedication to the institution and its students. He is excited about his new role as Dean and looks forward to working with faculty, staff, and students to further advance research and education in forest resources and environmental sciences at Michigan Technological University.
