Xi Jinping urges Antony Blinken to uphold America’s promises and address existing challenges.

During a recent meeting in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping urged US Secretary of State Antony Blinken to remain true to his word in order to resolve unresolved issues in the bilateral relationship between China and the United States. Xi emphasized the importance of respecting each other, cooperating, and seeking common ground to uphold their partnership without causing harm to one another.

The Chinese leader acknowledged the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the US, highlighting the need for both countries to be partners rather than rivals. Xi stressed that the changing international landscape requires dialogue, managing differences, and promoting cooperation between the two nations to meet the expectations of their peoples and the global community.

Xi expressed China’s desire for a confident, open, prosperous, and developing United States. He emphasized the importance of a positive vision of China’s development from the US to stabilize, improve, and advance their relationship. Xi referenced his previous meeting with US President Joe Biden, acknowledging progress made while recognizing remaining issues to address.

During this meeting with Blinken in Beijing, Wang Yi warned of negative factors increasing tensions between China and the United States. However, Blinken assured that he would address areas of disagreement clearly and directly. The visit was followed by US Senate approval of a bill requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok within nine months.

In response to this development, ByteDance stated its intention not to sell TikTok despite US legislation. This move has added tension to US-China relations with implications for technology companies operating between the two countries. Despite these challenges
