Islamic Jihad claims responsibility for rocket attacks from Gaza in retaliation to Israeli airstrikes

On Monday, extremist organization Hamas announced their acceptance of a ceasefire proposal put forth by mediators to end the conflict in Gaza. However, the Israeli government declined to accept the proposal, citing ongoing concerns about security and rocket attacks from Gaza into southern Israel. This refusal led to Israel conducting numerous airstrikes in Rafah, with the stated intention of preparing for a potential ground operation.

The military wing of Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for firing rockets from Gaza into southern Israel in response to Israeli airstrikes in the area. The Israeli Armed Forces reported air strikes in communities near the Gaza Strip, further escalating tensions between the two sides.

As a result of these actions, continued fighting has broken out in the region, with neither side willing to back down from their positions. The ongoing violence underscores deep-rooted divisions and long-standing conflicts in the area. It remains unclear when or how a resolution to this crisis will be reached.
