The Kuwaiti National Assembly’s opening session is next Sunday

On Sunday, April 21, the Kuwaiti National Assembly will hold its opening session, despite a decree postponing it until May 14. The head of the Sunni session in the Kuwaiti National Assembly, Representative Saleh Ashour, made this announcement to adhere to constitutional dates and ensure the smooth functioning of the legislative term.

Ashour also outlined the procedures for assuming the position of President of the Senate until the President of the Council is elected according to the Constitution. About 37 representatives have confirmed their attendance for the opening session, following the constitutional dates.

However, a session scheduled for Wednesday, April 17 was postponed due to Decree No. 67 of 2024 which rescheduled it to May 14, 2024. Nevertheless, a session has been called for Sunday, April 21 in accordance with Article 87 of the Constitution to avoid any constitutional suspicions and uphold the constitutional dates.

Representatives expressed their support for the newly appointed Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah Al-Sabah and urged him to prioritize the concerns of citizens.
