Clark County Business Owners Express Concern about Ongoing Safety Concerns Following Recent Fire Incident

The strip mall situated on Tropicana and Pecos in Clark County experienced a devastating fire on Saturday afternoon, leading to the temporary closure of seven businesses. Although the cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed by the Clark County Fire Department, it is believed that homeless individuals may have started it, resulting in extensive damage that has left several shops without power completely or partially since the incident.

The duration of repairs is still uncertain, leaving business owners worried about their livelihoods. Familia Tattoo owner Jonny Galvez expressed concern about providing for his family while his business remains closed. Joey Scolaro, owner of Lucino’s Pizza, had to discard a significant amount of food due to the power outage. Both owners feel uncomfortable operating in unsafe structures with no clear solution in sight.

Galvez and his wife have faced troubling encounters since opening their shop last year, including security issues and safety concerns. They raised these issues with Colliers Property Management, which manages the shopping center, but have not seen improvement in security measures. Scolaro shared his frustration about the lack of action taken to address security concerns at the strip mall despite repeated requests from business owners. The hope for a successful business has been overshadowed by recurring issues, leaving both Galvez and Scolaro worried about the future of their establishments. Despite our attempts to contact Colliers Property Management for comment, we have not received a response yet.
