Frontier emerged victorious with a 1-0 win over Caldwell to secure the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference 2A championship at J.B. Chambers I-470 Complex in Wheeling, W.Va. Kaycee Berentz delivered an outstanding pitching performance, supported by Kate Congleton’s key hit in the first inning. The Cougars managed to score the only run of the game in the opening inning, with Gracie Mendenhall scoring on Congleton’s RBI single.

Berentz was exceptional on the mound, allowing just one hit and striking out 12 batters in the game. Despite a strong effort from the Caldwell team, Frontier’s pitching and defense proved too much to overcome. Caldwell, previous winners of the OVAC titles, were dethroned by Frontier in this matchup. The Cougers now prepare to face Shenandoah before heading into the sectional play next week.

The upcoming tournament will see Frontier take on Tuscarawas Central Catholic in the sectional semifinals, with their sights set on further success following their championship win. The team’s strong performance in the final will undoubtedly boost their confidence heading into the next phase of competition.
