Cutting-Edge Agricultural Technology Triumphs in Beef2024 Pitching Competition

Dr. Bronwyn Darlington, the founder and managing director of Agscent, emerged victorious in the Pitch In The Paddock competition at Beef2024 in Rockhampton. She outshone seven other finalists with her company’s innovative use of NASA-licensed technology to create groundbreaking breath-sensing devices. These devices have the potential to revolutionize methane measurement, pregnancy testing, and disease diagnostics through an affordable nanotechnology platform.

Agscent was founded after Dr. Darlington’s realization of the potential behind breath diagnostics technology originally developed for humans. By adapting this technology to her family’s large cattle and sheep property in rural New South Wales, she has set the stage for a new wave of advancements in the agricultural industry.

The Pitch In The Paddock competition provides entrepreneurs with an opportunity to showcase their beef-focused business concepts, prototypes or new products to a large audience of beef stakeholders and consumers in the Southern Hemisphere. This year saw a record number of applicants vying for a spot in the final eight, making it highly competitive.

The lucky finalists were given five minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges and a live audience during today’s event. Managing Director and Founder of Agscent captivated the panel with her company’s innovative use of NASA-licensed technology to create groundbreaking breath-sensing devices that are poised to transform methane measurement, pregnancy testing and disease diagnostics through an affordable nanotechnology platform.

Beef Australia Board Director Jess Webb praised Dr. Darlington for her groundbreaking work noting that she is “shifting the dial” in the industry by bringing innovation and affordability into traditional farming practices.”
