Auburn Running Back Brian Battie Suffers Severe Injuries in Sarasota Shooting

In a tragic turn of events, Auburn Tigers running back Brian Battie is in critical condition after his brother, Tommie Battie IV, was killed in a shooting that also injured three other individuals. The incident occurred early Saturday morning at Tallywood Centre Plaza in Sarasota, Florida.

Tommie, who was 24 years old, was found dead at the scene while Brian was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that Brian is currently in the ICU and has some movement in his hands.

Brian Battie began his collegiate career at South Florida before joining the Auburn Tigers for the 2023 season. During his time at Auburn, he served as the primary kick returner and had a solid performance with 51 carries for 227 yards and a touchdown across 13 games. Prior to his time at South Florida, Battie excelled at both Sarasota High School and Braden River High School.

Rated as a two-star recruit in the class of 2020 by Rivals, Brian Battie made the decision to transfer to Auburn in January of 2023 following a coaching change at South Florida. Despite facing challenges along the way, Battie’s potential shone through as he displayed his talent both on and off the field.
