2023-2024 Annual Report Released by Department of Population and Public Health Sciences

The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at Keck School of Medicine of USC has released its 2023-2024 Annual Report, highlighting the department’s impactful contributions to the field of population and public health. This year, the department maintained its #2 ranking in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), allowing groundbreaking research in areas such as cancer, genetics, disease, maternal and child health, and environmental health.

One notable recognition received by a research team was Marlena Fezjo, PhD being named one of Time Magazine’s ‘Women of the Year.’ Faculty members also provided expert scientific testimonies in political forums. In addition to research achievements, community partnerships helped translate health research into tangible outcomes in Los Angeles and beyond.

The Department also celebrated successes within its education programs. The Master of Public Health program received a perfect score and full seven-year re-accreditation from the Council on Education in Public Health, showcasing the department’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Students and alumni also received prestigious awards while faculty members were recognized for their expertise and leadership.
