Health and Migration in Colombia within the Region of the Americas as of March 31, 2024

Migrants continue to flow into various countries in the region, with Panama reporting a significant increase in the number of migrants crossing its borders. From January 1 to March 31, 2024, a total of 109,069 migrants have entered the Darien region, with Venezuelans, Ecuadorians, Haitians, and Colombians being the top nationalities represented.

In Honduras, the National Migration Institute has recorded an increase of 125.6% compared to the same period in 2023, with a total of 87,852 migrants crossing the country between January and February 2024. Similarly to Panama, Venezuelans are among the top nationalities represented in Honduras.

Colombia has also seen an influx of Venezuelan migrants entering its borders. Statistics show that 52% of these migrants are women and fall within the productive age group of 18 to 39 years old. Many of these migrants have been granted Temporary Protection Permits (PPT), which provide them access to essential services such as identification, health, education, and justice.

On the other hand, Cuba has seen a decrease in its nationals being returned from other countries in the region due to repatriation efforts. Between January and March 2024, only 276 Cubans were repatriated through 22 operations. However
