Domestic violence victims’ data compromised in ZircoDATA hack

In recent news, the Victorian public health service, Monash Health, has been impacted by a cyber attack on ZircoDATA, a company based in Victoria that provides secure document storage and other services to 9,000 clients across Australia. The breach occurred in February and led to the exposure of some historical documents belonging to Monash Health.

According to Monash Health’s chief executive, Eugine Yafele, the National Office of Cyber Security has been notified of the breach and investigations are ongoing. However, Yafele stated that despite the breach, Monash Health’s systems have not been compromised or impacted by the cyber attack. He expressed regret over the incident and stated that efforts are being made to investigate the breach in collaboration with ZircoDATA.

In another incident before the new year, St Vincent’s Health reported a data breach by unknown hackers. They confirmed that no sensitive data were compromised in the breach. The healthcare sector is continuously facing cybersecurity threats, and organizations must remain vigilant to protect patient data and privacy.
