The day’s weather outlook indicates that skies will brighten with temperatures reaching near 80 degrees in the afternoon, particularly in the Capital Region and points south. There is a possibility of a few thunderstorms developing in the atmosphere, with the highest severe threat expected to be in the south and east. However, showers and storms may also impact areas to the north and west, especially in the evening, although the risk of severe weather is currently low. Breezy conditions with gusts up to 30 mph can be expected in the afternoon.

Moving forward into this week and weekend, we can expect cooler and unsettled weather conditions. A disturbance will bring scattered rain tomorrow, with temperatures cooling down into the 60s for most areas. Another round of rain is forecast for Thursday night and Friday, causing temperatures to struggle to reach the 50s by the end of the week. The upcoming Mother’s Day Weekend may not be ideal for Tulip Fest as mostly cloudy skies and scattered rain are expected both Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures remaining in the lower 60s.

For today’s weather update: expect sunshine with a possibility of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm but mainly to areas south and east facing severe threat while remaining warm and breezy with winds shifting from southeast to west at 10-20 mph and highs reaching 78 degrees. Tonight will see lingering showers or thunderstorm before clearing up but partly cloudy skies with a low of 52 degrees
