Gaza post-war plan sparks clash between Gantz and Netanyahu

In Israel, a heated conflict is brewing over the future of Gaza. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is facing an ultimatum from former defense minister Benny Gantz, who has set a deadline of June 8 for Netanyahu to come up with a plan for war against Hamas. If Netanyahu does not comply, Gantz has threatened to withdraw from the government.

Gantz’s plan for victory against Hamas includes several conditions, such as the elimination of Hamas, the return of hostages, the establishment of an alternative government in Gaza, and the return of Israeli residents to northern Israel. He also emphasized the need for normalization with Saudi Arabia as part of the solution.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has joined in on the debate by warning against a long-term Israeli military presence in Gaza, which has sparked tensions within the government. Meanwhile, opposition leader Yair Lapid has called on war cabinet ministers to leave the government and suggested that their departure could lead to Netanyahu’s removal from power.

Netanyahu is now faced with a difficult choice between victory or disaster. The former defense minister criticized some politicians for acting with cowardice and irresponsibility while Israeli soldiers are fighting in Gaza. He called for a change in strategy to ensure real victory for Israel. However, Netanyahu’s office responded harshly to Gantz’s ultimatum, accusing him of undermining war efforts.

As tensions continue to rise between Netanyahu and his opponents, it remains unclear how this confrontation will play out in Israeli politics in the coming weeks and months.
