Ryan Swanson Qualifies for PGA Professional Championship

Ryan Swanson, an accomplished golfer and coach, is getting ready for a road trip at the end of the month. He will be competing in the PGA Professional Championship taking place in Frisco, Texas from April 28 to May 1. Swanson, who is also the head coach of the St. Bonaventura University golf team, earned his spot in the championship by finishing in a tie for second place in the Western New York PGA Section Championship last year. His impressive performance qualified him for a spot among over 300 golfers vying for the title.

As head coach of St. Bonaventura’s golf program, Swanson has brought new life to the team. Under his guidance, he recruited and developed a talented group of golfers including Christian Chapman, Danny Gianniny, and Jack Geise. These players have set numerous program records and excelled both on and off the course. In particular, Jack Angelucci set a school record with his rounds of par or better during the 2022-23 season while Erik Stauderman and Angelucci had standout performances at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championship. To top it all off, several players received academic honors as well.

Swanson’s dedication to golf and passion for coaching have made a lasting impact on both his players and the sport as a whole. His upcoming participation in the PGA Professional Championship is just one testament to his skills and commitment to excellence on and off the course.

In addition to being head coach at St. Bonaventura University, Swanson is also co-owner of Pinehurst Golf Club in Panama City Beach Florida where he resides with his family.

Nolan Swanson, Ryan’s brother will be accompanying him as his caddie during this event.
