AI Technology Successfully Addresses CSUN’s Challenges – Daily Sundial

California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is hosting its third annual Digital Equity Day, with a focus on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Distinguished speakers Stephen Than and Deone Zell will discuss the transformative potential of AI in education. Their insights delve into the revolutionary possibilities that AI presents for reshaping teaching methodologies, breaking down barriers to learning, and ensuring equal opportunities for all students.

Dr. Sheba Lo will address the impact of AI on race, culture, and accessibility, urging people to confront biases embedded within technology. Meanwhile, CSUN’s AI Jam 2024 competition is showcasing student-led projects using AI to address campus challenges. These student-led teams have been refining their AI-powered solutions to address real-world challenges on our campus, embodying CSUN’s commitment to innovation.

During the competition, Alberto Rubalcava and Alberto Sandoval designed “Course Compass” to help students navigate their academic journey with clear guidance. Conner Nehru Juman and Cameel Emily Juman designed “MatBot by Chatty Matty” to solve scheduling course and advising issues. The first place winners were Luis Olmos, Victoria Miteva, and Vaishnavi Sen who designed an “AI Academic Course Planning Program.” Their projects demonstrate how AI can be used to create innovative solutions that can improve education at CSUN and beyond.
