Olympic organizers reveal plans to integrate artificial intelligence into sports

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced that it will be incorporating artificial intelligence into sports as part of a global trend to take advantage of rapidly advancing technology. With the Paris Olympics just under 100 days away, the IOC is gearing up to implement its AI strategy, which includes enhancing judging to make the games more equitable, customizing training methods for athletes, and utilizing AI to identify talented athletes.

During a press event at the former London Olympic Park, where the 2012 summer games were held, IOC President Thomas Bach emphasized the importance of embracing change and using AI responsibly in order to maintain the uniqueness and relevance of the Olympic Games. The IOC’s plans to use artificial intelligence also extend to security measures for the Paris games, with a video surveillance system featuring AI-powered cameras designed to identify potential security risks like abandoned packages or large crowd movements. This technology aims to improve safety and security for both athletes and spectators while also contributing to the overall success of the event.
