USDA’s new horse soring rule could have damaging effects on the walking horse industry, despite lacking scientific justification

The USDA has recently taken steps to strengthen regulations in a bid to put an end to horse soring. As part of this effort, responsibility for inspector screening and training has been assigned solely to APHIS. However, some people within the walking horse industry feel that this move will have a negative impact on their sector.

To discuss this new rule with RFD-TV’s Tammi Arender, U.S. Congressman and House Ag Committee Member John Rose visited the studio. During their conversation, they touched on the potential implications this rule would have on the walking horse industry and explored what the next steps might be in light of this decision.

Congressman Rose highlighted the importance of finding a balance between ensuring animal welfare and protecting the rights of those within the walking horse industry. He also emphasized the need for continued dialogue and collaboration between all stakeholders involved in order to find a solution that works for everyone involved.
