Partnership Between Call2Recycle Canada and EDI Results in Advanced Battery Sorting Technology

The partnership between Call2Recycle Canada and Electronic Distributors International Inc (EDI) is a significant milestone in advancing sustainable battery recycling practices in Ontario, Canada. This collaboration will significantly increase the province’s capacity to sort and recycle end-of-life batteries through the implementation of a new battery sorting technology.

The state-of-the-art equipment, located at EDI’s facility in Orillia, Ontario, is one of only four of its kind globally. With this investment, EDI is enhancing its commitment to modernizing the recycling industry and investing in sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of their partners.

The new equipment will double the plant’s capability to sort used batteries effectively, which will contribute to enhancing Ontario’s battery recycling infrastructure and boost efficiency. It will also support larger battery collection volumes and reduce environmental impact while stimulating the local economy.

Joe Zenobio, President of Call2Recycle Canada, commended EDI for its innovative approach to driving positive change in the recycling sector. He emphasized that advancements such as this one not only promote responsible recycling practices but also set a precedent for innovative waste management solutions in North America.

“This partnership represents a pivotal step forward in advancing sustainable battery recycling practices in Ontario,” said Norm Yorke, Managing Partner at EDI. “We are committed to modernizing our industry and investing in technology-driven solutions that meet our partners’ evolving needs.”
