New Zealand reveals squad for T20 World Cup 2024

New Zealand coach Gary Stead expressed confidence in the squad selected for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which did not include the return of Colin Munro. Instead, selectors decided to include young talents Rachin Ravindra and Matt Henry, both of whom are set to make their debut at the World Cup.

Stead specifically mentioned his excitement to see Matt Henry and Rachin Ravindra showcase their skills on the big stage, as both players have shown promise in recent matches. Henry’s hard work across all facets of the T20 game earned him a place in the squad, while Ravindra’s consistent performances over the past year impressed selectors.

The New Zealand cricket team will face Afghanistan in their first match in Guyana on June 7, followed by matches against West Indies, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea in Group C. The squad includes players like Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, and Tim Southee, among others, who will be crucial to New Zealand’s campaign in the tournament. Ben Sears will serve as the travelling reserve for the team, ready to step in if needed.
