Michelle Yeoh teams up with business and political leaders for Global Citizen NOW summit in the fight against poverty

The Global Citizen NOW summit will be held in New York on May 1 and 2, bringing together a diverse group of political, business, and philanthropic leaders. Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi, and Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg are among the distinguished participants. The event aims to address issues such as food insecurity, climate change, and public health related to extreme poverty.

Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans emphasized the importance of urgent action to end extreme poverty, noting that the world is at a critical juncture on various issues. One of the main focuses of the Global Citizen NOW summit will be the fight against preventable diseases like malaria, polio, and HPV. New initiatives to preserve the Amazon Rainforest and increase investments in Africa through the World Bank will also be announced. The event aims to engage young leaders from Gen Z and millennials, building on the momentum generated at the recent international conference in Australia.
