Neurodiverse individuals discover career opportunities in AI technology at a Northern Virginia company – NBC4 Washington报道

As a neurodivergent individual, Cody Hart finds value in data labeling or computer annotation. He has been working at Enabled Intelligence in Falls Church, Virginia for some time now and appreciates the sense of freedom and purpose that comes with it. Unlike his previous job at a grocery store deli, where he often felt misunderstood due to his condition, people at Enabled Intelligence treat him like an everyday person.

Enabled Intelligence is an AI technology company that provides data solutions to the U.S. defense and intelligence community. They have announced plans to recruit 100 AI data annotators who are neurodiverse, including individuals on the Autism Spectrum, ADHD, Dyslexia, and more. The company’s CEO, Peter Kant, highlighted that the work requires skills like detail orientation, hyper-focus, pattern recognition, puzzle-solving, and analytical skills – all of which many neurodiverse individuals excel in.

To prepare workers for these roles, Melwood – a nonprofit organization that provides jobs and opportunities for people with disabilities – is partnering with Enabled Intelligence to offer a 14-week boot camp program. Graduates of this program like Cody Hart emphasize the significance of gaining IT certifications, developing soft skills for working in a professional environment, and accessing rewarding career opportunities with growth potential.

Recently, three Virginia Democrats – Congressman Don Beyer, Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner – visited the employees at Enabled Intelligence to provide support for Melwood’s Neurodivergent Workforce Initiative. This initiative received $307,000 in federal funding to continue its mission of creating job opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Cody Hart expressed his gratitude towards all those who have supported him on his journey to his current job and stressed the importance of such programs and services for people like him.
