SOS: Global Efforts to Protect Biodiversity (Encore Presentation)

The world’s flora and fauna are facing unprecedented challenges due to human-induced factors such as invasive species, pollution, and climate change. Efforts have been made in the last 50 years to tackle these problems, but there is still a long way to go. Initiatives like those in Gorongosa National Park provide hope for wildlife recovery and the local community.

Several international bodies, including IPBES, COP 15, and CITES, are committed to protecting biodiversity globally. However, they often struggle to coordinate their efforts with each country’s individual conservation plans. This raises questions about collaboration and the challenges of working together as an international community to protect global biodiversity.

In our final installment of SOS: Save Our Species, we delve into the topic of global biodiversity conservation and explore the initiatives that are being undertaken to address these pressing issues. We examine how these efforts can help preserve not only our planet’s diverse ecosystems but also the communities that rely on them for their livelihoods.
