French Hostesses and Stewards of Vueling to Maintain Strike Notice from May 8 to 12

The SNPNC-FO union, which represents French hostesses and stewards at the Spanish low-cost airline Vueling, has announced that they will proceed with their planned strike from May 8 to 12. The union submitted a strike notice on April 29 and has been waiting for a response from management, but have received no cooperation. Instead, management sent a threatening email to employees.

The union is unhappy not only with the lack of progress in negotiations but also with the working conditions at Vueling. They have raised concerns about the sustained pace of work with short rest periods, forced flights for some staff, and the use of employees on contracts that are not French. To this end, they have been joined by the CGT in their efforts.

The strike notice coincides with the Ascension long weekend, a busy travel period. In 2023, Vueling operates a network of 248 routes, including 42 in France, and carried over 34 million passengers. Despite its success as a low-cost airline company focused on providing affordable travel options to customers around the world, Vueling continues to face challenges with its employees and negotiations with union representatives.
