Understanding the Regulatory Landscape for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Healthcare Technology

During a recent session, Associate Pat Ouellette and Of Counsel Benjamin Zegarelli discussed the ever-changing landscape of health care regulations governing medical devices and software. They explored various topics, including the FDA’s current approach to regulating AI/ML devices, other health care applications of AI/ML, potential pitfalls and emerging regulations, new regulations for EMR developers, and proposed non-discrimination requirements related to health care provider use of AI by the Office for Civil Rights.

Additionally, they discussed the recent White House AI Executive Order and the sections relevant to the use of AI in health care.
