From Winning a Grammy to Conquering the World: Tyla’s Rise to the Top

As a child, Tyla was surrounded by music, with influences like Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men, and Brian McKnight. She comes from a close-knit family where singing and dancing together is a common occurrence. Her grandmother was a singer in her day, and it was always the plan for her to pursue music.

Tyla embraced every opportunity to perform, from talent shows to soirees, covering artists like Adele, Miley Cyrus, and Whitney Houston. Since stepping into a recording studio in high school, she has been dedicated to finding her sound and identity as an artist. Despite making mistakes along the way, she believes they have ultimately led her to where she is now.

The success of her song “Water” reaching number one on the R&B charts feels surreal for Tyla. She reflects on the journey it took to get there with her best friend. Her family, especially her parents, were proud supporters of her music career and even accompanied her to the Grammy awards where she won. The joy and pride they shared in that moment was a highlight for Tyla.

With her album introducing a new sound to listeners, Tyla hopes they approach it with an open mind and that it brings them the same joy it brings her. After a tour postponement due to injury, Tyla is looking forward to a summer tour that promises to be even bigger and better with the extra time to prepare. She is excited for what the future holds and hopes her music continues to resonate with her audience.
