Day 1292 on Mars: Rough Terrain Ahead

Scientific activities scheduled for today’s plan include using the ChemCam and Mastcam to observe and analyze the local bedrock. Additionally, the Mastcam will be used to create a mosaic to document the sedimentary structures in the area. The rugged terrain requires careful plotting of the course to ensure safe navigation.

Data recovered from the missing MRO pass on Sol 1290 confirmed that the 23 meter drive went smoothly. Today’s plan for the Mars Rover Opportunity includes continuing to drive across the Naukluft Plateau, with a focus on gathering as much data as possible to further explore the Martian terrain. The team remains focused on its mission to collect valuable information about Mars’ geology and atmosphere.
