Sol 1398: Ready to Roll

Curiosity resumed operations on Sol 1398 after a brief hiatus to address a safe mode anomaly. The plan for the day included scientific observations and a drive to a new location. The day began with ChemCam and Mastcam observations of the target “Luanda” to study the composition of the local bedrock. Mastcam also captured images of blocky deposits and stratification within the Murray formation.

Following the scientific observations, Curiosity drove approximately 76 meters and took post-drive images for future targeting. In the afternoon, there were additional observations using Navcam and Mastcam to study the atmosphere. Overnight, Curiosity conducted the final CheMin analysis of the Oudam drill sample.

In addition to these tasks, there were some additional diagnostics for the flight software. Despite these tasks, the team was excited to be back on the road and exploring new terrain.
