Exciting news: Students to start painting mural for upcoming Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown!

The new Da Vinci Science Center in downtown Allentown will be a vibrant addition to the city’s cultural landscape, thanks to the talents of an artist from Bethlehem and hundreds of students. On Thursday morning, about 300 students will gather at the Judith Chase Early Learning Center on Chew Street to begin painting a mural that will be installed on the wall of the new science center.

The mural, which is 120 feet long, was designed by local artist and Bethlehem Area School District art teacher Carla Majczan in collaboration with the students. The project began with lessons in art and science at the Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers, where students created boxes full of art and ideas based on Carla’s lesson plans. Carla then sorted through these boxes to create the final mural design, which is directly based on the children’s drawings and ideas.

The kids are excited to see their hard work come to life as they paint the mural, which will be installed at the new science center in late May or early June. The center’s opening date is set for May 22, making it a perfect opportunity for families to explore their interests in science and technology. With its colorful artwork and cutting-edge exhibits, the Da Vinci Science Center is sure to become a beloved destination for visitors from all over town.
