Cervantes Institute and Apple Music Partner to Discover the Greatest Spanish Lyrics of All Time

The Cervantes Institute and Apple Music have joined forces to celebrate the best Spanish song lyrics in history, as part of a project launched on Spanish Language Day on April 23. Artists such as Andrés Calamaro, Bunbury, and Zahara have curated playlists featuring their favorite Spanish song lyrics on Apple Music, complete with detailed comments, song fragments, and author names. Many of the songs included in the project have synchronized lyrics for users to follow along or sing.

To further promote the richness of the Spanish language and its cultural heritage, the Cervantes Institute has also launched its profile as a curator on Apple Music. The institute offers playlists such as ‘The word in music’, ‘Learn Spanish with music’, a selection by Spanish writer Luis Mateo Díez, and ‘What sounds at the Cervantes Institute’. This collaboration aims to showcase various genres of music while highlighting the importance of both high culture and popular culture in promoting the Spanish language.

During an event in Madrid, Luis García Montero, director of the Cervantes Institute, emphasized that this project is not only about celebrating the value of words in music but also contributing to the learning of Spanish for students worldwide. He stated that global impact of Spanish music highlights how important it is to showcase cultural heritage through various genres.
