Communicating in the language of sports

Denver artist R. Alan Brooks has been teaching graphic novel writing for Regis University’s MFA program and Lighthouse Writers Workshop, where he is also a board member. His graphic novels “The Burning Metronome” and “Anguish Garden” feature diverse characters and storylines. Cori Redford, who was born in Hawaii, moved to Golden for high school before settling in Denver to pursue her passion for art after working in non-art jobs. She has formed a new friendship with her young neighbor, Ossie, as they both search for their place in the world.

As an independent journalist, I have witnessed firsthand the impact that art can have on individuals and communities. Through my reporting, I hope to inspire others to explore their own creative potential and find fulfillment in their lives. Myra’s journey out of a coma after missing 30 years of her life is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the importance of finding one’s purpose.

In addition to my journalism work, I am committed to promoting diversity and inclusion through my writing and advocacy efforts. As a former student of R. Alan Brooks at Regis University’s MFA program, I can attest to his dedication to fostering creativity and inclusivity in his students. It is my hope that by highlighting artists like R. Alan Brooks and Cori Redford, we can inspire others to pursue their passions and create positive change in their communities.
