Schools and Life Science Companies Collaborate: WBC Life Science Panel Shines Light on Collaboration

The fourth annual Watertown Business Coalition Life Science Panel was held on April 9, with a focus on the collaboration between the Watertown Public Schools and local life science companies. This event was organized by Watertown’s Merle Kummer and the group’s board.

The goal of this collaboration, known as CoLAB High School STEM Career Collaboration, is to build new levels of STEM self-confidence among students, encouraging them to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The panelists from Addgene and Acrivon Therapeutics shared their insights on the importance of mentorship and nurturing future scientists. Additionally, a Watertown High School Junior shared his experience of having a real scientist as a mentor.

The Watertown Business Coalition expressed pride in their partnership with life science professionals, emphasizing their commitment to mentoring students and nurturing future scientists. The event was captured on video by Watertown Cable Access Television, giving those who couldn’t attend the opportunity to watch and learn more about this important collaboration between the school system and local businesses.
