7 Walmart health clinics in Texas shutting down because of increasing expenses

In recent news, Walmart has agreed to pay $45 million to settle a class action lawsuit that accused customers of being overcharged for certain products. The settlement puts an end to the legal dispute and brings clarity to the pricing practices of the retail giant.

Meanwhile, Walmart has announced the closure of its health clinics in five states, including Texas. After five years of providing low-cost medical care to patients, Walmart has decided to shut down its 51 health clinics and its telehealth business due to unsustainability.

This decision will have a significant impact on communities in Texas, particularly cities like Fort Worth, Garland, and Tyler. Since the first clinics opened in 2019, Walmart’s health centers have offered a range of services, including medical, dental, and behavioral health care.

Moving forward, Walmart is shifting its focus away from health clinics and concentrating on its pharmacies and vision centers across the United States. Walmart’s pharmacies now offer testing and treatment services, access to specialty medication, medication therapy management, and health screenings. Additionally, new features have been introduced at Walmart’s vision centers such as virtual try-on capability using augmented reality.

Overall, this move reflects Walmart’s commitment to providing quality healthcare services while also focusing on other areas of their business that are more sustainable in the long run.
