Aaron Finch selects Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya for India’s T20 World Cup squad, Shubman Gill omitted

The upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024 is already generating a lot of excitement as discussions about Team India’s potential composition are buzzing. Many former Indian cricketers have been offering their suggestions for the squad, and even Australia’s former T20 World Cup-winning captain Aaron Finch has unveiled his lineup for the tournament in June.

In Finch’s squad, he named Yashasvi Jaiswal as the second player in the squad after captain Rohit Sharma, but did not reveal his playing XI. However, we can see from his choices that he values youth and talent in his team. He has included Virat Kohli, who currently holds the Orange Cap in IPL 2024, alongside Suryakumar Yadav in the top order. He has also picked Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson as the wicketkeepers, with KL Rahul being excluded from the touring party.

Finch has also included Hardik Pandya, who has been facing criticism for his poor performances in the IPL, in his squad. Both Shivam Dube and Rinku Singh were selected by him, despite reports suggesting only one could be picked by the BCCI. This shows that Finch believes in giving opportunities to young players who can make a difference on the field.

Finally, Finch opted for a pace-heavy bowling attack for Team India at the T20 World Cup, selecting Avesh Khan as the fourth seamer alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Mohammed Siraj. Ravindra Jadeja and in-form left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav were also included in his squad. This gives us an idea of what kind of bowling attack India will use to defend their title at this year’s tournament.
