lack of qualified candidates leads to 43% of vacant positions in Sicily’s workforce

The employment market in Sicily is booming, with many companies looking to hire various professionals, including commercial employees in the entertainment sector, opticians, orthopedic doctors, physiatrists, experts in wages and contributions, personal assistance workers, family workers, and managers of orders. However, despite the abundance of job offers, 42.7% of positions remain vacant due to a lack of suitable candidates.

In an effort to bridge the gap between job supply and demand and encourage more young people, women, and individuals over 35 to enter the workforce in the South SEZ area, a new “Employment Superbonus” has been introduced. To help facilitate this initiative and connect job seekers with potential employers, the Truck of the National Foundation for Labor Consultants will be stationed at Piazza Duomo in Messina on Monday from 9am to 2pm. This concludes the national route “The work travels with us! A tour for orientation, legality, and safety,” which has engaged over 5 thousand secondary school students, university students, and job seekers in 18 Italian cities since April.

During this event in Messina, young people will have access to orientation activities from specialized professionals who will help them choose study paths that align with their career goals. Group sessions and workshops will be held inside the Truck and at various stands focused on topics such as labor market trends leading sectors sought-after professions qualifications workplace safety ethical work employment opportunities active policies in the area Sorprendo platform GenL video game on ethical work. Prominent figures from the world of work business will also be key speakers at this event.
