16-year-old amateur Kris Kim impresses the golf world by making the cut in his PGA Tour debut

Kris Kim, an English teenager, made history on his PGA Tour debut by becoming the youngest player to make the cut on tour in nine years. At just 16 years old, he also broke the record for the youngest player ever to make the cut at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, surpassing the record previously set by Jordan Spieth in 2010.

Kim’s impressive performances in the first two rounds of the tournament included a three-under-68 and a four-under-67, showcasing his talent and skill on the course. Despite feeling nervous on the 18th hole as he shot a birdie putt to make the cut, Kim expressed his enjoyment of the experience. He credited his mother, Ji-Hyun Suh, a former professional golfer, for introducing him to the sport at the age of five. Suh now serves as his swing coach, and Kim attributes his love for golf to watching her compete on the LPGA Tour in the 1990s.

Kim has already achieved success in his amateur career, including winning championships like the Boys’ Amateur Championship, European Boys’ Individual Championship and McGregor Trophy last year. He is currently sitting in a tie for 36th place at CJ Cup Byron Nelson tournament which is seven shots behind overnight leader Jake Knapp.
