El-Sonni, and was supported by over 160 countries in the Assembly.

Football is more than just a sport, it is a language that is understood worldwide.
The President of the General Assembly, Dennis Francis, praised the adoption of the resolution, recognizing football’s ability to promote values of teamwork, fair play, and tolerance. He emphasized the role of sports, including football, in fostering peace and solidarity globally. The resolution reflects the importance of football in uniting people and promoting positive values across borders.
