Fire crews in Summerville respond to early morning fire at local business

A fire broke out early Sunday morning in Summerville, South Carolina, causing smoke and water damage to multiple businesses on the 1200 block of Old Trolley Road. The incident occurred at around 4:30 a.m., prompting authorities to close Old Trolley Road at Beverly Drive. The road was reopened just before 7 a.m.

Chief Fire Marshal Jeremiah Lee stated that the fire was a commercial blaze that affected several businesses in the area. Despite there being no visible signs of fire from the outside, crews encountered smoke and heat upon entry, indicating a fire was present. Fortunately, they were able to locate and control the fire in less than five minutes, preventing any injuries from occurring as a result of the incident.

However, neighboring businesses were affected by smoke and water damage due to the efforts made by firefighters to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety in commercial properties.

The incident occurred just days after another commercial building caught fire in Summerville on Friday night, resulting in significant damage to both businesses involved. As such, it is important for business owners to take necessary precautions to prevent fires from starting or spreading within their premises.
