Mikey Eyssimont of Lightning selected for Team USA in World Championships

Tampa — Forward Mikey Eyssimont of the Lightning has been selected to play for Team USA in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships for the second consecutive year. On Sunday morning, he was one of nine players named to the Team USA roster. The championships will take place in Czechia from Friday through May 26.

Last year, Eyssimont contributed a goal and two assists in nine games as part of Team USA’s fourth-place finish at worlds. The previous year’s U.S. team made history by winning its first eight games. Hailing from Littleton, Colorado, Eyssimont will join the team in Bratislava, where they are currently training. Team USA’s first game will be against Sweden in Ostrava on Friday as part of the eight preliminary-round games. Some games will be aired on NHL Network.

Coming off a standout season with the Lightning, where he became a full-time NHL player at age 27 and achieved career highs with 11 goals and 25 points while predominantly playing on the third line, Eyssimont is well-prepared for this international competition. His 135 hits ranked third on the team last season, showcasing his strong two-way game grounded in solid forechecking. Additionally, he was the Lightning’s nominee for this year’s Bill Masterton Trophy, awarded to a player who exemplifies perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to the game.
