Twins welcome Carlos Correa back from injured list after 16-game absence due to strained rib cage muscle

The Minnesota Twins have welcomed back shortstop Carlos Correa, who has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Correa missed 16 games due to a strained right rib cage muscle. While he was out, Willi Castro filled in at shortstop for the majority of the games. Despite not needing a rehabilitation assignment, Correa is now ready to rejoin the team as they face the Chicago White Sox in a three-game series.

In order to make room for Correa on the roster, the Twins have optioned multi-position player Austin Martin to Triple-A St. Paul. In his 22 games with the team, Martin batted .226 with 16 runs, six doubles, six walks, two steals, and one home run.

Correa had a strong start to the season, batting .306 with two doubles, one home run, four RBIs, and eight walks in 11 games before his injury. With him back in the lineup once again, the Twins are looking forward to having his offensive production and defensive skills on the field once again.

The team believes that Martin will benefit from playing more regularly at Triple-A St. Paul before making a return to Minnesota later in the season. They want him to continue developing his skills and gain more experience before joining their roster again.

The addition of Correa will be a boost for the Twins offense as he is considered one of their most dynamic players. His presence will also provide some much needed stability at shortstop as he has played there consistently since he joined the club in 2014.

Overall, this move by Minnesota is an important step towards getting their full roster back up and running smoothly as they look forward to facing off against Chicago in their upcoming series.
