If You Utilize My Name for Fundraising, a 5% Share is Due

Former President Donald Trump is cracking down on GOP campaigns that are using his name and face for fundraising purposes in New York City on Tuesday. Trump is demanding that these campaigns send him a 5% cut of any money raised in this way, as well as reminding other campaigns not to impersonate the former president.

Republicans have been using Trump’s name and face for years to raise money from GOP voters, but now the Trump campaign is taking steps to ensure that they receive a portion of the funds raised in their name. In a letter sent to GOP vendors, the Trump campaign stated that all candidates and committees using Trump’s name, image, and likeness must split a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations with the Trump National Committee JFC.

Furthermore, the Trump campaign is urging fundraising Republicans not to impersonate Trump or suggest that donors are disloyal to him if they do not donate. The letter warns that any vendor whose clients ignore these guidelines will be held responsible for their actions, with repeated violations resulting in a suspension of business relationships with the Trump National Committee JFC.

It appears that Trump may be attempting to make up for lost ground in fundraising by cracking down on GOP campaigns using his name and likeness without his consent. The letter makes it clear that he expects to receive a portion of any funds raised in his name.
