In the upcoming presidential election, Americans have expressed their trust in former President Trump over President Biden when it comes to the economy and inflation. According to a recent poll conducted by ABC News/Ipsos, 88% of respondents said that the economy was a crucial factor in determining their vote, with 85% expressing the same trust for inflation.
When it comes to handling the economy, 46% of Americans stated that they trusted Trump, while only 32% expressed trust in Biden. Similarly, 44% of respondents said they trusted Trump to handle inflation, with only 30% expressing the same trust in Biden. A significant portion, 25%, stated that they trusted neither candidate on the issue of inflation.
The survey also touched on the financial situation of respondents since Biden assumed office. Among those surveyed, 43% said they were not as well off financially as before, while 40% said they were about the same. Additionally, 16% reported being better off than before.
If an election between Biden and Trump were to take place head-to-head, Trump had support from 46%, while Biden had support from just 44%. However, among registered voters, Biden led with a margin of one percentage point over Trump’s support of 45%. When it came to likely voters, Biden received support from two percentage points more than Trump’s support of just 45%.
