The Conclusion of Trump’s Trial: Jury Selection Almost Complete, Arguments set for Next Week

The historic trial of former US President Donald Trump resumed in New York, with the possibility of forming a jury by the end of the week. Judge Juan Merchan expressed hope that the jury selection process would be completed by the evening, allowing for opening arguments on Monday. The Kennedy family publicly announced their support for incumbent President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign, amid concerns that independent candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. could draw votes away from Biden and potentially aid Trump’s victory.

President Trump is on trial for allegedly paying money to buy Stormy Daniels’ silence shortly before the 2016 elections. Seven jurors were sworn in on Tuesday, with additional alternates. Potential jurors have undergone scrutiny and questioning about their opinions on Trump and any biases. Trump faces charges of falsifying accounting documents for the Trump Organization, specifically related to the payment to Stormy Daniels.

On the other hand, the Kennedy family’s public support for Biden’s campaign is seen as a setback for Robert Kennedy Jr.’s independent candidacy. The Kennedys will participate in an event in Philadelphia to support Biden’s re-election, distancing themselves from Robert Kennedy Jr.’s campaign. Biden and the Kennedys will also engage in volunteer organizing to support the current president. If convicted, Trump faces potential prison time but has continued his presidential candidacy for the upcoming elections.
