Trenitalia Welcomes Over 17 Million Travelers during Spring Long Weekends

During the upcoming spring weekends linked to the holidays of April 25th and May 1st, Trenitalia is anticipating a surge in travelers with over 17 million people expected to journey with the company. A significant portion of these travelers, approximately 47%, have already purchased their tickets through digital channels, representing a 5% increase compared to 2023 purchases on site and the App. This growth in bookings is indicative of Italians’ increasing preference for train travel as a sustainable mode of transportation.

Popular destinations for these spring weekends include cities of art such as Florence, Naples, Rome, and Venice, as well as foreign destinations like Switzerland. Regions like Puglia, Liguria, Sicily, and Calabria are also popular among travelers seeking seaside destinations. In addition to these choices, there has been a growing trend of visitors traveling to villages such as Cortona, Montepulciano, San Gimignano, Urbino, Fermo and many more.

To accommodate the increased demand during these long weekends, Frecciarossa – Trenitalia’s flagship service – is boosting its connections and available seats. Extraordinary departures and new connections are being scheduled between major cities like Milan
